In a poor strategy game an army is a number. A hundred against a hundred, and whoever has more wins. We always wanted something else: people standing in the battle, each with something on his mind.
Everyone thinks for himself
A soldier of Alardon does not simply go where the cursor pointed. He looks around, hears what is happening nearby, remembers where an arrow just came from. He decides for himself how to cover and how to answer. Sometimes he makes a mistake, just like a real soldier.
Experience you cannot buy
The most interesting part of a fight begins when a novice meets a veteran. The veteran sees more, reacts sooner and rarely falls for simple tricks. He can be beaten, but it takes skill, not luck.
Fear
Men in the line get scared. Some hold to the last, and some will break and run. A good commander knows this and places his men so that fear does not decide the battle before the swords do.
We have only just begun
Some of this already lives in our scenes, some is still being born. We will not give away every secret, but we promise one thing: every battle in Alardon will be a story told by people, not by numbers.
